FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball team closed nonconference play with a third straight win, beating Hampton, 90-68, at Schollmaier Arena on Wednesday night.

TCU (9-2) has its best nonconference record since going 11-2 in 2003-04, thanks in large part to a career-high 31 points from Amy Okonkwo. The junior hit 11-of-14 shots and added seven rebounds in just 19 minutes.

Amber Ramirez added 18 points, all on 3-pointers, with five coming in the first quarter. Freshman Lauren Heard added a season-high 15 points.

Defining Moments
Ramirez sparked the Frogs out of the gates with a 5-of-5 showing from long range in the first quarter, helping TCU to a 28-17 lead after 10 minutes. She made one on the Frogs first possession of the game, setting the tone for a quarter that saw TCU hit 9-of-12 shots from the field.

Hampton (2-7) was within three, 17-14, with 2:24 remaining in the first quarter, but the Frogs closed the frame on an 11-3 run to take the 11-point lead.

Ramirez and Okonkwo both had 18 points at halftime as the Frogs led, 50-38, at the break after Hampton hit a 3-pointer at the second-quarter buzzer to close the gap.

Okonkwo would carry the Frogs in the third quarter as she scored seven of TCU's 16 points, however the Frogs would also hold the Lady Pirates to just 10 points and maintain a healthy lead. That lead would grow to as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter.

Stat of Game
22 -- TCU outrebounded Hampton, 42-20, with the plus-22 margin tying for the Frogs best of the season. The Lady Pirates grabbed just three offensive rebounds and had just two second-chance points.

Up Next
The Frogs will take some days off for Christmas before returning to campus to begin prep for Big 12 play. TCU opens its conference slate at home against No. 9 West Virginia on Thursday, Dec. 28. The Mountaineers are the Big 12's only remaining undefeated team and one of eight remaining in the nation.
