Jan. 21, 2013
FORT WORTH, Texas - For the third time this season, freshman Zahna Medley was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.
Medley, who shared weekly accolades with Oklahoma State's Brittney Martin, averaged 15.5 points and 2.5 rebounds for the week. She scored 10 points at West Virginia and followed that up with a 21-point outing against K-State this past Saturday.
Medley has hit the 20-point mark four times this season, which is the most of any freshman in the Big 12. She closed out the first half of the K-State game by scoring 11 of the Frog's final 21 points, then recorded 10 of the team's final 16 in the contest. Medley is the only rookie in the Big 12 to rank in the top 10 in scoring and assists.
TCU will resume action at Texas Tech on Sunday, Jan. 27.
