FORT WORTH--Former TCU women's basketball standout Adrianne Ross signed a training camp contract with the San Antonio Silver Stars of the WNBA, team officials confirmed Friday. Ross becomes only the second Lady Frog ever to sign a WNBA contract, joining both former Frog teammate and new Silver Star teammate Sandora Irvin.

"My first reaction wasn't as much excitement as it was a sigh of relief," Ross said. "Not being drafted shifted my focus and really made me appreciate it more. I've dreamed of playing professionally since I was a kid, before the WNBA was even around. It's nice to know that all the hard work I've put in has paid off."

The contract runs for the length of training camp and will provide Ross with the opportunity to make San Antonio's regular-season roster. The Silver Stars will have about 20 players in camp fighting for 11 or 12 roster spots.

A native of Hobbs, N.M., Ross played both point and shooting guard positions during her TCU career. She recently completed her collegiate tenure owning TCU records for steals, games played and field-goal attempts while ranking second all-time in program history for points and field goals and third in assists.

Ross earned honorable-mention All-America recognition from both the Associated Press and Women's Basketball Coaches Association following her junior season, when she also was named Co-Mountain West Conference Player of the Year. The 2007-08 season saw her claim a third-straight spot on the All-MWC team.

Ross will join former Lady Frog great Irvin in Silver Starts training camp. Irvin, who played for TCU during Ross' first two seasons on campus, is entering her second season with San Antonio after being traded following a two-year stint with the Phoenix Mercury. Irvin helped the Silver Stars reach the WNBA's Western Conference Finals a season ago.

The team begins training camp Sunday in San Antonio and will play two preseason exhibition games prior to opening the 2008 season May 17 at Sacramento.
