Women's Hoops Adds Signee Dakota Vann

April 24, 2017

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball program announced the signing of Dakota Vann, a standout junior college forward, on Monday.

"We are really thrilled that Dakota will be joining our FrogFam," head coach Raegan Pebley said. "It was important that we added length, and among other skills, she possesses an aggressive defensive mentality and a consistency in how she attacks the glass.

"Dakota has strong family ties to the area. She has great confidence and knowledge of what it means to be apart of the TCU family both in and out of the classroom, as well as on and off the court."

Vann comes to TCU after leading the way in nearly every statistical category for Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan., last season. The Oklahoma City native led Butler with 14.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

The 6-foot-0 forward also shot nearly 43 percent from 3-point range, leading Butler and ranking second in the KJCCC. She also ranked in the conference's top 10 in scoring, steals and blocks on her way to first team All-KJCCC and first team NJCAA All-Region VI honors.

Vann shot 45.4 percent overall, second on the team to only fellow TCU signee Kyeria Hannah who shot 49.2 percent on the season.

Vann played her freshman season at Loyola in Chicago and was a Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team selection. She started 29 of 30 games for the Ramblers, averaging 7.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

She scored a season-high 17 points against Southern Illinois in the Missouri Valley Tournament. Vann finished one block shy of a Loyola record with six blocks against Central Michigan.

A prep star at Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Okla., Vann was name The Oklahoman's Big All-City Player of the Year as a senior after leading Deer Creek to its third straight Class 5A state championship.

"I felt like TCU was the right fit for me," Vann said. "I felt very comfortable from the moment I first stepped on campus."
