Irvin, Ross open WNBA season
May 18, 2008
Former Lady Frogs Sandora Irvin and Adrianne Ross opened the 2008 WNBA campaign Saturday evening during San Antonio's 73-64 season-opening loss in Sacramento. Both former TCU greats saw the floor in their first opportunities of the season.
Irvin earned the most significant action of the two, as she scored two points and pulled down five rebounds, including four on the offensive end, in nearly 18 minutes of play. She went 1-for-4 from the field and totaled one of the Silver Stars' seven blocked shots against the Monarchs.
Ross made the first appearance of her professional career by playing four minutes late in the contest. She missed on her only field-goal attempt and picked up two personal fouls.
The Silver Stars open their home schedule Tuesday at 7 p.m. against the defending WNBA champion Phoenix Mercury. Fans looking to follow the progress this season of their former Lady Frogs can visit San Antonio's official web site, www.WNBA.com/silverstars. Several of this season's games are scheduled to be streamed live over the Internet.
