Frogs Open Australia Tour With Win

MOUNT DRUITT, Australia -- The TCU women's basketball team played the first game of its Australian tour on Tuesday night, defeating the Hornsby Spiders, 80-46.  The Frogs and Spiders squared off in front of a capacity crowd inside Kevin Betts Stadium, approximately 30 miles west of Sydney.

The Frogs took control with a 27-point second quarter, including a 16-2 run to close the period, which gave them a 46-22 lead at the break. TCU's defense was great throughout, holding Hornsby to 25 percent (14-of-57) shooting, including 2-of-21 from deep.

Amy Okonkwo led three Frogs in double figures with a game-high 15 points. Toree Thompson added 11 while Dakota Vann chipped in 10. Jordan Moore grabbed 10 rebounds and also had three blocks to go along with six points. All 13 Horned Frogs played and scored.

The Frogs will continue sightseeing the Sydney area on Wednesday before returning to the court on Thursday night. TCU will take on the Australian Institute of Sport's Centre of Excellence at 6 p.m. AES (3 a.m. CST) at the Minto Indoor Sport Centre.
