IRVING, Texas - TCU women's basketball sophomore guard Zahna Medley was tabbed a Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection on Wednesday, marking one of only 11 student-athletes to be honored as voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.

Medley received the distinction following a freshman season that saw her earn All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors as well as being a unanimous First-Team All-Freshman Team selection.

The Springfield, Ill., native led the Horned Frogs with 12.9 points and 4.3 assists per game, leading all freshmen in the Big 12 in both categories while placing third among all freshmen nationally in assists.

Medley exploded on the scene in just her fourth collegiate game, draining nine 3-pointers en route to a 27-point performance against SMU, tying a program record while ranking fourth in Big 12 history for made 3-pointers in a game.

Medley notched 18 total double-digit scoring performances during the 2012-13 campaign, including a 35-point outburst against Kansas where she buried seven 3-pointers, joining All-America honorees Brittney Griner (Baylor) and Brittany Chambers (Kansas State) as the only players in the Big 12 to record that many points in a single-game during the season.

Medley is one of four starters and eight letterwinners returning for Horned Frogs, who officially opened practice on Monday. TCU will meet Southern Arkansas on Nov. 4 in an exhibition contest before kicking off the 2013-14 season against Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 9 at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
