TCU Women Add Two to Open Signing Period

Nov. 9, 2016

FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU women’s basketball program announced the signing of Kyeria Hannah and Lauren Heard to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, the first day of the NCAA’s early signing period.

Kyeria Hannah (6’1” – F – Moore, Okla. – Butler CC)
Hannah will come to TCU from Butler Community College where she is ranked by the Dan Olsen Collegiate Girls Basketball Report as the No. 33 overall junior college player in the nation.

The Moore, Okla., native led Butler to a 24-8 record last season and earned All-KJCCC honors after averaging 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She also shot nearly 44 percent from the floor and over 72 percent from the free throw line, both ranking in the top 20 of the KJCCC.

Hannah was a prep standout at Southmoore High School where she led the Sabercats to three straight Oklahoma 6A state tournament appearances. She was ranked a 3-star recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz and was rated as the No. 73 forward in the nation.

Hannah was named to the OGBCA and OCA All-State Teams, as well as the All-Big City Team, as a senior. She also played in the OCA All-State Girls Basketball game following her senior season.

Raegan Pebley on Kyeria Hannah:
“KeKe is an explosive scorer. Her versatility on the offensive end is really special. She has the potential to create difficult match-ups. We are excited to be apart of KeKe’s future and anxious to see the impact she can make here at TCU.”

Kyeria Hannah on TCU:
“I chose TCU because it’s home. I've been wanting to go to a school that not only is the right place for me basketball-wise, but academically as well. The coaches and girls made me feel comfortable, it's home.”

Mike Helmer (Butler Community College Coach) on Kyeria Hannah:
“I’m very proud of Keke and so excited for her to be at TCU next season. What a great school with a great basketball program. She has worked hard to have this opportunity and I'm very excited for her.”

Lauren Heard (5’9” – G – Denton, Texas – Guyer HS)
Heard comes to TCU from Guyer High School in Denton, Texas. Heard is ranked a 4-star recruit by Premier Basketball Report and is rated as the No. 4 point guard in Texas. She is also rated as the No. 59 overall guard in the nation by ESPN HoopGurlz.

Heard is the reigning District 5-6A co-MVP after averaging 19.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. She was also named the Defensive Player of the Year last season after averaging an incredible 5.2 steals per game.

She also earned all-area and all-district honors while leading Guyer to the UIL 6A state playoffs in each of the last two seasons.

Raegan Pebley on Lauren Heard:
“I can’t tell you enough how excited we are about Lauren joining the Frog Fam. Finding players that embrace the work that it takes to be a great defender is like finding gold. Her switch is always on, and she loves to compete with great and against great talent. There is no doubt it is in her blood to work hard and fall in love with the process of being her best!”

Lauren Heard on TCU:
“I chose TCU because I love the family atmosphere. I concur with Coach Pebley's vision of me with the team and being impactful. I know that my goals outside of basketball will be achieved. I am close enough for my family to visit and attend games, but also far enough to enjoy the college experience.”

Bill Franey (Texas Elite Adidas Prime Coach) on Lauren Heard:
“Lauren is a great athlete, excellent offensive threat inside and out, and the best defender we have seen in years. She plays hard all the time and is completely unselfish. But, Lauren's basketball pales in comparison to the young lady she is. She is just a great person in every way. Lauren will represent TCU proudly and will make everyone around her better.”
