Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week
Dec. 31, 2013
Fields, playing in his first home game in over a year and a half and first overall contest since late November, returned to action with authority. He recorded his first career double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, with the latter being a career-high as well, in TCU's 77-64 win over Texas Southern on Sunday. It was also the Oklahoma City native's first start of the year. Fields, a junior, also thwarted a Tiger rally in the second half with a clutch three-point play.
The men will open Big 12 play on Saturday, hosting West Virginia for a 3 p.m. CST tip-off. The game will also air on the Big 12 Network.
Prince was instrumental in the women's win over Prairie View A&M on Saturday night. The Horned Frogs routed the Panthers 76-47. Her 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting were a season-high and one short of a career best from 2011. The Horned Frogs jumped out to a 20-point halftime lead and never looked back in improving to 8-0 at home this season.
Prince, a junior from Dunbar High School in Fort Worth, and TCU will begin Big 12 action Thursday night when No. 14 Iowa State comes to Fort Worth. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CST.
