Kindel Walter is in her fifth season as a coach at TCU, taking over the Western program during the 2011-12 season as interim head coach following two seasons as the Horned Frogs Hunt Seat coach. Walter is a TCU graduate who competed on the equestrian team from 2006 to 2008.

The 2013-14 season was another banner year for the Horned Frogs as the program came within one win of claiming the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Championship en route to a three-way tie for first-place regular-season finish with a 3-3 conference record. The Frogs had several individuals shine on the Western side as Alexi Child and Shelby St. Hilaire both picked up NCEA All-America recognition in Reining. On the Western side under Walter's watch, TCU has had nine NCEA All-America honors alone in program history. Child, who earned NCEA Second-Team All-America status a year ago, closed out the regular-season, going 9-3 overall in Reining. She also scored two MOP accolades, while earning three conference victories. During the course of the season, Child picked up several honors, including NCEA and Big 12 Rider of the Month. St. Hilaire garnered her first NCEA All-America accolade by posting a 7-2-3 overall record in Reining with one MOP honor during the regular-season. The redshirt sophomore also collected three victories in the discipline during league play. Other Western individuals who shined under Walter's watch during the 2013-14 season, included Chantz Stewart who was named All-Big 12, while Rylee Morgan was named the Big 12 Championship Most Outstanding Performer in Horsemanship.

Even more impressive though is the Western teams work in the classroom this past season as Child was named the Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year to go along with NCEA First Team Academic honors as well as Academic All-Big 12 accolades. In all, Child was one of only three student-athletes in the entire conference to post a perfect 4.00 GPA. Child was joined on the first team by fellow Western riders Erin Gillette and Katelyn Gray, while Colby Plott brought home honorable mention certificates.

Walter had great success in 2013 guiding her Western program into the first year of the Big 12 Conference. The Frogs went 10-5 overall, which included a remarkable 5-1 mark in league play. Individually, Walter helped senior Alexie Estrada earn Big 12 Co-Horsemanship Rider of the Year, while placing three individuals on the all-conference squad, including Alexi Child and Kolby Simonson in Reining. Nationally, Walter's Western program was among the best as three different Frogs earned All-America accolades.

In 2012, Walter led the Western team to an amazing sixth-place finish at NCEA Nationals. The team was the only double-digit seed to compete on the final day of competition. Senior Courtney Chown went 4-0 on the weekend, while standout freshman Samantha Bayer was 6-0 until the last day of nationals. The Western team closed its 2011-12 season with a 6-11 record on the season and finished 2-2 at NCEA Nationals.

Walter's Western team earned numerous accolades in 2011-12, highlighted by Alexie Estrada's Honorable Mention All-America honors. In addition, Devin Spencer, Kolby Simonson, and Estrada earned Second Team Academic All-America honors. Senior's Courtney Chown and Lyndsi Harden were recognized with academic honorable mention honors following the conclusion of the school year.

In 2011, the Frogs once again were among the nation's best, qualifying for nationals for a second-straight season. Under Walter's watch, TCU dropped Kansas State in the opening round of nationals, marking the second-straight season in which the Horned Frogs won their opening round contest. Individually, Callie Selchau made program history, earning Honorable Mention Varsity Equestrian All-America accolades in Equitation on the Flat. The California product wrapped up regular-season action with a 5-1 record and one MVP.

At the 2010 Varsity Equestrian National Championships, the Frogs claimed their first ever victory on the English side of nationals. The win came with a 5-3 decision over Baylor on the opening day. In its next match, TCU dominated the No. 8 Fresno State in a 6-2 decision to advance to the next round versus Oklahoma State. The No. 12 TCU Hunt Seat team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 6 Oklahoma State to earn sixth-place.

Walter, who was named the 2007 Bob Lilly TCU Athlete of the Year by the Greater Fort Worth Fellowship of Christian Athletes, closed out her senior season collecting a team-high five MVP accolades, while recording a perfect 11-0 record in Horsemanship. The Norco, Calif., native also helped the Western team capture the 2008 Varsity Equestrian Western National Championship in only its second year as a program.
