BARTONVILLE, Texas - The TCU Western squad claimed a 6-4 victory Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as the No. 8 Horned Frogs were upset by SMU at Sleepy P Ranch, 11-9.

With the loss, TCU moved to 6-5 overall, while SMU improved to 4-9 on the season. Despite Saturday's outcome, the Horned Frogs still have a chance to capture a Big 12 regular-season championship next weekend with a victory over nationally ranked K-State. The Frogs currently sit atop the Big 12 standings with a 3-2 conference record, while Oklahoma State moved to 3-3 in league play after this weekend.

"We had a bit of tough luck in today's loss, but had several strong rides," said TCU Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield. "Caitlin Ader had a great day with two lovely rides, while Brooke Boyle was phenominal in Reining. We are taking the lessons from today and going to use them as building blocks in our prep for K-State next weekend."

On Saturday, freshman Brooke Boyle claimed MOP accolades in Reining, marking the first time in her young career she has recorded MOP honors.  Alexi Child and Shelby St. Hilaire were also victorious, posting wins over Kristen Schramm and Hannah McCain, respectively. With the win, Child improved to 8-3-0 on the season, while St. Hilaire moved to 7-1-3 in the discipline.

In Horsemanship, the Purple and White ousted the Mustangs to the tune of 3-2. Calli Rouse got the Frogs rolling in the event, downing Courtney Line, 72-70, to claim her sixth victory this season. Colby Plott followed with a 72.5-67.5 decision over Schramm. Freshman Megan McMullen rounded out TCU's notables, dropping McCain, 72-61.5.

The Horned Frogs fought hard on the Hunt Seat side Saturday, but dropped a 7-3 decision. In Equitation over Fences, Caitlin Ader and Nicole Diamantis both garnered wins, upending Alex Butterworth and Julianna Fisher, respectively. Ader also scored the Frogs' lone point in Equitation on the Flat, defeating Julia Fowler, 77-66.

TCU will be in action next Saturday at Kansas State. Start time is set for 10:00 a.m. CT from Manhattan.
