No. 8 TCU Falls to No. 2 Auburn, 9-8

SPRINGTOWN, Texas - No. 8 TCU recorded three MOP accolades Sunday afternoon, but dropped a 9-8 decision to No. 2 Auburn at Turning Point Ranch.
With the loss, the Horned Frogs moved to 6-5 overall. TCU was coming off a dominating 14-6 conference victory over No. 4 Kansas State Saturday, which helped them move to 3-3 in Big 12 action.
On Sunday, the Frogs continued their winning ways in Western, posting a 6-3 victory over Auburn, while outscoring the Tigers, 729-723. The Purple and White swept MOP accolades in the event with sophomore Samantha Bayer and freshman Erin Gillette bringing home honors. With the win, the Western squad is now 8-2 overall.
Gillette led the way for TCU in Horsemanship, taking down Griffin Knight, 75.5-72.5. The freshman from Palos Verdes, Calif., went 2-0 on the weekend and is now 6-3 overall. Calli Rouse and Katelyn Gray were also victorious in the event, defeating Indy Roper and Lucy Igoe, respectively.
In Reining, Gray was just as dominate, riding Pepper to a 71.5-67.5 victory over Julianna Cook. Bayer, who earned MOP honors, claimed her second victory over the weekend, downing Stephanie Rucci, while Alexi Child rounded out the Frog scoring, upending Katsy Leeman, 71.5-70.5.
On the Hunt Seat side, the Frogs fell by an overall score of 6-2 Sunday to move to 6-4 overall. Caitlin Ader claimed MOP accolades in Equitation on the Flat with a 85-83 victory over Elizabeth Benson. Demi Stiegler and Haley Jacobi appeared to have scored two points for the Frogs in the event, but ended up battling Lindsay Portela and Hasbrouck Donovan, respectively, to a draw.
In Equitation over Fences, freshman Taylor Alexander scored the lone point for TCU, riding Oscar to a 79-70 dismantling over Quincy Hayes.
The Horned Frogs will travel to Dover, Del., on Saturday, March 9 to take on Delaware State.
