FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- The No. 6 ranked Horned Frog equestrian team came away with a well-fought win on Friday at Turning Point Ranch, winning 14-4 against Texas Tech in Hunt Seat and North Central Texas in Western in a season-opening scrimmage.

Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield
"It was an awesome day at Turning Point Ranch. There were many great rides and a few moments we can grow from. Now we buckle down and turn our focus to SMU."

The Rundown
After freshman Josie Ferrante sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, the Frogs went to work in the split scrimmage against Texas Tech and North Central Texas.

In Equitation over Fences against Texas Tech, Raegan Rast got the ball rolling with a score of 79 on Tony. The other Frogs followed suit, all riding to earn scores that were upwards of 70 points. TCU went 3-2 in Fences, with Patty Gill and Madison Billings earning their points for the Frogs. Rast's score of 79 led her to be named MOP.

In Horsemanship, Mackenzie Preston showed for the first time in her collegiate career in her demo rides on Shilo, being scored at 74.5 and 73 for those rides. Emma Edwards followed with an exhibition ride of 72.5 points on Shy. The Frogs swept Horsemanship 4-0 against North Central Texas, with Kassi Jones, Lucie Lundquist, Anna Hauter and Cydney Benes earning their points. Cydney Benes' 76-point ride on Bob made her the standout for MOP. Freshman Mary Katherine Camp also rode in exhibition, earning a score of 72 for her ride on Shy.

Back on the Hunt Seat side, TCU beat out Texas Tech 4-1 in Equitation on the Flat, bringing the final Hunt Seat score to 7-3 in TCU's favor. Freshman Janelle Henningsen shone in her first collegiate ride, earning herself a point and the MOP for an 84-point ride on Tag. Emelie Burgess' ride was also of note, with a close comparison of an 83-point ride on Tux. This near shutout was thanks to the work of Henningsen, Burgess, Jada Taylor and Patty Gill all earning their points for the Frogs.

To round out the Western side, Reining went 3-1 for TCU against NCTC, thanks to the rides of Mackenzie Preston, Adrianna Adams and Elena Hurd. Adams' 74-point ride on Scooby earned her an MOP title for the meet. Tessa Lindberg and Conner West rode well in exhibition in Reining, earning a 72 and a 66 for their respective rides on Willy.
