Frogs Defeat Aggies in 11-7 Victory

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU equestrian squad beat New Mexico State, 11-7, on Saturday afternoon in Mansfield.

The Horned Frogs took home all four of the match's MVP titles as they earned their ninth victory of the season.

Juli Skobel led the hunt seat team in equitation on the flat after scoring an 81 and earning the event's MVP award. Sophomore Jessica Hagen also earned a victory in the event after topping the Aggies' Marisa Bernal, 78-71.

In equitation over fences, Lauren Quiroz notched the event's MVP title in her 85-68 win over Meg Keeley. Freshman Victoria Lee also posted a victory for the Frogs after scoring a 72.

Freshman Courtney Chown led all scorers in horsemanship after posting a 78.5. En route to her win, Chown also earned the horsemanship MVP award. Sophomore Ashley Aikman earned her sixth victory of the season in horsemanship after defeating New Mexico States' Rachael Krause, 75.5-74.

The reining event was led by junior Ashton Mickunas who scored a 71 and the event's MVP honor. Kelsey Huffman took home a victory in reining as she beat the Aggies' Rachael Krause, 67.5-64.

"This was a great win for our girls and congratulations to them in their hard work," assistant coach Haley Schoolfield said. "Their hard work is putting them in position to peak in April when it comes time for the national championships."
