FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU has announced that February's Scholar-Athletes of the Month are baseball right-handed pitcher Preston Morrison and women's equestrian student-athlete Alexi Child.

In his first game of the season against Jacksonville, Morrison went eight innings in a start for the 11th time in his career at TCU. It's the sixth time he has held the opposing team off the scoreboard in a start. A week later against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Morrison turned in his 22nd quality start of 28 career starts. At this point in the season, Morrison had yet to allow an earned run in 15 innings pitched. The Horned Frogs currently hold a 7-4 record going into their game Tuesday night against Dallas Baptist.

Morrison, a junior, is an Economic major and was a 2013 First-team Academic All-Big 12 selection.

Child has picked up where she left off from her last year, when she garnered an Academic All-Big 12 selection. She started the month off with an impressive 10-point spread win over Darby Malihot of Delaware State. Child found herself victorious once again, as she posted a win over Kristen Schramm of SMU and improved her season record to 8-3-0. The Horned Frogs have an overall record of 6-5 and currently sit atop the Big 12 standings with a conference record of 3-2.

Child, a junior Movement Science major, was also a member of the 2013 NCEA Academic Honor Roll.
