10 Student-Athletes Honored by Big 12

FORT WORTH, Texas- TCU had 10 student-athletes named to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 Equestrian Team Tuesday afternoon.

Earning first-team accolades were senior's Alexie Estrada, Haley Jacobi, Molly Jones and Melinda Peters. Sophomore duo Alexi Child and Katelyn Gray rounded out the Horned Frogs' first-team recognition. Child was one of five student-athletes in the conference to post a 4.00 grade point average.

Picking up second-team accolades were Caitlin Ader (Jr.), Kaitlin Perry (So.), Callie Selchau (Sr.) and Kolby Simonson (Sr.).

First-team members consisted of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while second-team selections held a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher (either cumulative or the two previous semesters) and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

TCU will next be in action Friday at the Big 12 Equestrian Championship in Stillwater, Okla. The Horned Frogs, who are seeded No. 2, will take on No. 3 Kansas State at 10:00 a.m.
