FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Athletics Department announced its monthly student-athlete awards for the month of March on Wednesday.

The four monthly categories are Male and Female Athlete of the Month and Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month.

On the men's side, Jesse Speirs was named Male Athlete of the Month, while Radu Barbu was tabbed as Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month.

On the women's side, Carrie von Uhlit was named Female Athlete of the Month and Jamee Jones was selected as the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month.

Speirs, a sophomore from Bangor, Maine, had top-20 finishes in both of TCU's tournaments during the month, establishing back-to-back new career-best finishes.

At the USC Collegiate Invitational, he set a then career-best by tying for 15th place with a three-round score of 216 (69-76-71). Speirs followed up his performance at the USC Collegiate Invitational by sharing eighth place at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate with a 36-hole 142 (73-69).
