April 15, 2014

FORT WORTH, Texas – Junior Alexi Child was honored as the 2014 Big 12 Equestrian Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

By earning Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Child became the second-straight TCU student-athlete to claim the prestigious honor, joining former Frog great Haley Jacobi who earned co-honors a year ago.

Child is a two-time NCEA All-America and Academic All-Big 12 first team honoree. The Oregon native, who was also recently named a 2014 NCEA Elite Student-Athlete Award nominee, holds a 4.00 GPA in movement science.

She closed out the regular-season, going 9-3 overall in Reining with two MOP accolades, while earning three conference victories. During the course of the season, Child picked up several honors, including NCEA and Big 12 Rider of the Month.
