April 15, 2015

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU equestrian program had nine student-athletes named to the prestigious Beval Saddlery Academic Team Wednesday, including five first-team honorees.

Earning first-team recognition were Alexi Child, Erin Gillette, Katelyn Gray, Kari Hancock and Chantz Stewart. Senior Kaitlin Perry was the lone representative on the second-team, while Jordan Appel, Brooke Boyle and Nicole Diamantis brought home honorable mention certificates.

In addition, seven student-athletes were named to the La Hacienda Academic Honor Roll Wednesday. Senior Hadley Woodruff was joined on the list by Danielle Dirkx, Carly Epp, Ciera Fowler, Kate Hamel, Kelsi Schatz and Nikki Woodward.

In the past three years alone, TCU has not only combined to have 13 student-athletes awarded Academic First-Team honors by the NCEA, but also had 32 awarded to the prestigious Honor Roll.

To earn first-team recognition, student-athletes must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of their school's meets and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5, while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.

The Horned Frogs will battle a familiar foe in No. 10 seed Oklahoma State at nationals, beginning Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
