FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU equestrian program announced the addition of Emelie Burgess Friday afternoon.

"We are so excited to have Emelie joining us in the fall," said Hunt Seat head coach Logan Fiorentino. "She is a lovely rider who has been successful on the A-circuit as well as in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association high school format. Emelie's experience competing on a team should be an asset as she transitions to the NCAA format.  Emelie is well rounded and I look forward to having her on the team next year."

Burgess comes to TCU from Wethersfield, Conn., where she was the 2011 Connecticut Hunter Jumper Association Junior Equitation Medal Champion. The 2012 CHJA End of Year Junior Equitation Champion, who placed seventh overall at the New England Finals Challenge of the States, also claimed a top-20 finish at the New England Equitation Finals.

An honors student at Mercy High School, Burgess will don the Purple and White next fall after being named the 2013 Leading IEA Hunt Seat Rider of the Year, while also garnering accolades such as the 2013 IEA Open Championship Rider and 2013 IEA Reserve Champion in Open Flat, repsecitvely.
