Nov. 9, 2017

FORT WORTH, Texas – Sophomore Patty Gill and senior Jayme Omand were honored Wednesday as the Big 12 Riders of the Month for October in their respective Hunt Seat events.

Gill, a sophomore from El Dorado Hills, Calif., is the Big 12 Rider of the Month for Equitation on the Flat. In the month of October, she went 3-1 and earned her first MOP title against No. 1 Georgia, winning her point 84-74. That score of 84 is also her season-high. This is Gill’s first Big 12 monthly accolade of her young career.

Omand, a senior from Sacramento, Calif., is the Big 12 Rider of the Month for Equitation on the Flat. This is her first Big 12 accolade for Flat, as she’s previously garnered honors for Fences by both the Big 12 and the NCEA. She has hit her season-high score of 90 twice already this season, once against SMU in September and again against Texas A&M. Her season-average through October was an 83.4.
