Preview: at #6 Oklahoma State

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 8 TCU equestrian team travels to Stillwater, Okla., on Friday to take on the No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowgirls for the final meet of the fall semester. The meet will start at 1 p.m. at Totusek Arena.

The Frogs, 2-4 overall and 0-1 in conference, meet Oklahoma State for the second conference matchup of the season. OSU is currently 1-2 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play.

Scouting OSU
The Cowgirls, 1-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play, are currently ranked No. 6 in the most recent NCEA poll. Oklahoma State defeated Baylor in the first meet of the season with a 14-4 win against the Bears, but fell to SMU, 11-9 and to South Carolina, 13-9. After the meet against the Frogs, OSU will compete against Texas A&M at Totusek Arena on Nov. 17.

Last Time Out
The Frogs are coming off a tough and close loss to No. 9 Baylor The meet ended tied at 10-10, but the Bears edged TCU with an aggregate score of 1413-1367.

TCU swept the MOP accolades against Baylor, with two freshmen, one sophomore and one senior earning the honors. Freshman Raegan Rast earned her second Fences MOP of the season with a 78-point ride. Senior Emelie Burgess earned the second MOP of her career on the Flat after also scoring a 78 for her ride atop Pim. In Horsemanship, sophomore Josie Mootz rode to a 76.5-73 decision on Flash, earning her an MOP. It was Mootz’ second MOP of her career. Josie Ferrante, a freshman Reiner, earned her first MOP against Baylor’s Sydney Scheckel with a 72-point ride n Scooby.

Big 12 Honors
Sophomore Patty Gill and senior Jayme Omand both earned Rider of the Month accolades from the Big 12 Conference on Wednesday in their respective disciplines. Patty Gill, the Fences Rider of the Month, went 3-1 during the month of October and earned her first MOP of her career. Jayme Omand, the Flat Rider of the Month, had an average score of 83.4 on the season through the month of October. She has hit her season-high score of 90 twice this fall against SMU and Texas A&M.

The Frogs will take a break from competition after the meet in Stillwater, with no meets until Jan. 25, when TCU will face Texas A&M for a second time this season. Hunt Seat will compete at Turning Point Ranch, then the team will move to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo to complete the meet with Western.
