Estrada to Ride at Horsemanship Challenge

FORT WORTH, Texas - Senior Alexie Estrada has been selected to represent TCU and the NCEA at the first-ever AQHA Horsemanship Challenge Wednesday. The California native will be competing at the American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show Wednesday through Thursday in Oklahoma City. 

Estrada was nominated following her All-America performance throughout the 2011-12 season. Estrada will compete against Lauren Crivelli of Fresno State, Megan Hawkins of Georgia, Katy Krshka of Oklahoma State, Johnna Letworth of South Carolina, Carey Nowacek of Texas A&M, Parris Rice of Baylor and Indy Roper of Auburn. 

An Honorable Mention All-American last spring, Estrada has rode to a 3-1 record this fall with one Most Outstanding Player honoree. Estrada competed in all 17 meets last season in Horsemanship. She finished 10-6-1 overall with victories over West Texas A&M, South Dakota State, Auburn and Oklahoma State among others. She garnered two MVP honors against South Dakota State and then No. 4 Georgia, while also earning Second-Team Academic All-American accolades. 

The Horned Frogs will next be in action on Sunday, Nov. 18 at Baylor.
