DORADO, Puerto Rico - The TCU Horned Frogs snuck past No. 16 Florida to grab second place by a single stroke at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Dorado, Puerto Rico. The best team performance of the year, the Frogs finished behind only No. 3 Auburn. Auburn's Diana Ramage nabbed the individual medalist honors as well with the only sub-70 round of the tournament (76-71-69=216, E). TCU sophomore Camille Blackerby closed out the tourney with a career-best finish tied for second.

Blackerby's final round of 74 allowed her to maintain her second day share of second. She tied with Auburn's individual competitor, Margaret Shirley. Blackerby's 221 (75-72-74=221, (+5)) total ties her career-low 54.

Sophomore Catherine Matranga joined Blackerby in the top 15, with her third-best career finish. Tied for 15th, Matranga carded a 74-77-76=227 (+11), while, one stroke behind, senior D'Rae Ward tallied her 11th career top-20 finish with a score of 75-78-76=228 (+12).

Sophomore Stacey Bieber and freshman Elisa Gomez each tied for 42nd after the final round. Bieber posted a 81-77-78=236 (+20) and Gomez carded a 81-75-80=236 (+20) to help the Frogs secure second place by a single stroke.

Other than No. 16 Florida, the No. 49 Horned Frogs finished ahead of several teams ranked higher than them on the most recent Golfweek rankings, including No. 5 Georgia, No. 17 Texas, No. 22 Tulsa, No. 21 USC, and No. 18 Wake Forest, among others in the 14-team field.

The 72 par, 6,000 yard course was played in a 54 hole format (18-18-18=54). Last year's individual title went to USC's then-freshman Veronica Felibert of Caracas, Venezuela (213), presently tied for 30th with a seven-over par 79, and the team trophy went to Duke (862), who did not compete in this year's tournament.

Next up for the Frogs, the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial Invitational, set for Feb. 28-March 1, will be played on the Black Horse Golf Course (6,100 yards, par 72) in Cypress Texas, with a field of 12 teams.
