Horned Frogs Tenth After Day One of "Mo"Morial Invitational
March 1, 2004
Cypress, Texas - After the first of two days on the Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course in Cypress, Texas, the TCU women's golf team cashed out at tenth with freshman Stacey Bieber positioned at a tie for 13th.
Bieber, a Winnipeg, Canada, native, shot a 73 and 78 on the par-72, 6,118-yard course. Her first round of 73 lined her up for a tie at sixth going into the second round of 18, but she slipped after her fourth hole imploded with a double-bogey, to soon be followed by five more bogeys on the next several holes. She finished the day ranked the highest for the Frogs at 13th, with seven-over par, just six shots behind the tournament leader, Indiana University's Karen Dennison.
Fellow freshman Camille Blackerby shot a 77 and 76, nine-over par tied at 25th with senior Brooke Tull - last week's tournament champion - among others. Tull spent much of the 36 holes making up for lost ground following a double-bogey and multiple bogeys in the first round, setting her back six-over par. She hit a 78-75.
Missouri topped the competition at 26-over par.
