Nuutinen Records an Eagle in Hawai'i

KANE'OHE, Hawai'i -- TCU senior Sanna Nuutinen's eagle keyed a second-round 68 as TCU sits in fourth place after Tueday's opening 36 holes of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational.
Nuutinen recorded her second eagle of the season and third of her career. The Helsinki, Finland, native posted her sixth career sub-70 round, tying her with Valentine Derrey (2007-10) for second on TCU's all-time list. Rachel Raastad (2009-12) is the Horned Frogs' career leader with eight.
Nuutinen's eagle came on the par 5, 483-yard 16th hole. She then followed the eagle with the first of four birdies in a nine-hole stretch. Nuutinen is tied for 10th individually with a 5-over-par 149, eight shots behind leader Camino Sardinero of UTEP who's at 3-under 141.
TCU's 296 tied for the second best second-round score and was nine strokes lower than its 305 to open the day. With a 601, the Horned Frogs are 17 shots behind the 8-over 584 by leader and 35th-ranked Mississippi State.
TCU sophomore Maria Maymon is tied for 21st with a 76-75=151. The first of her four second-round birdies came on the opening hole. Maymon totaled a team-best seven birdies on the day.
McCoy had a pair of birdies and shot par on 13 holes en route to an opening-round 74. The junior from Carrollton, Texas, is tied for 26th.
Kortnie Maxoutopoulis shot a 76-77=153 for the Horned Frogs and is tied for 31st. Alex Sborov birdied two of her final three holes en route to a second-round 76. She had three birdies in first-round play.
