Fort Worth, Texas - Day one of the 2004 Greenwood Office Outfitters Conference USA Women's Golf Championship featured a lot of wind and several multiple bogies. The TCU Horned Frogs closed out the day at third following a 37-over (325) team performance, with senior Brooke Tull in a three-way tie for third place individually. Tulane and USF tied for first with a 30-over par (318) day.

The day began partly sunny with an intermittent breeze, but the wind picked up and the drizzling rain began on the back nine. Tull led the team with a +5 score of 77. From the first stroke, the senior teetered on the edge of trouble, hitting into the sand from the first swing. Although she easily knocked herself back in, the hole still remained tricky, catching her in a double bogey. She spent the rest of the day pacing herself, catching mostly even scores and a few one-overs.

For freshman Camille Blackerby, the front nine was the toughest, as she went six-over in the first half, including a double-bogey on a par-five eighth hole. She finished the day in a two-way tie for 12th with an eight-over par score of 80.

Freshman Stacey Bieber followed closely behind with a 10-over par score of 82. Her front nine suffered a double-bogey on the third hole, but she closed out the day on a good note, nailing a birdie putt on the 18th.

The front nine proved tricky for freshman Catherine Matranga, as well, consistently marking her one-over on every hole other than a birdie on the two hole and a par on the seventh. The kicker came on the 11th hole, however, when she quadruple-bogied. She finished tied for 30th with a 14-over par 86.

The final golfer for the Frogs, Swedish freshman Elin Emanuelsson, had an extremely tough back nine that featured a quadruple bogey and three double bogeys. She clipped par on each of the rest of the back nine, however, keeping her in the top 35. She tied for 35th with a 17-over par score of 89.

Play resumes tomorrow, Tuesday, April 20, at 8 a.m. Each player will tee off from hole one again at Shady Oaks Country Club. The third and final day begins at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Rain is expected the next two days.
