April 19, 2005
GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - Horned Frog sophomore Stacey Bieber continues to have one of her best performances as TCU extended its lead to nine strokes (595) in the second day of the 2005 Conference USA Women's Golf Championship at the par-72, 6,178-yard Germantown Country Club. Her 71-74 has her two strokes behind Tulane's Alison Walshe, but all five Frogs have jockeyed their way into the top 10. The Green Wave trails TCU at a 604.
The Horned Frogs have a nine-stroke lead on the 10-team field after shooting a second round 301. Bieber stands in second place individually, four strokes ahead of TCU senior D'Rae Ward. Yesterday's leader, USF's Fernanda Rivera, slid to a three-way tie for fourth with teammate Christina Jones and Louisville's Adrienne White.
TCU dominates the top 10, with all five golfers monopolizing spots. Sophomore Camille Blackerby climbed two spots to sit at eighth with a second round 78. Sophomores Catherine Matranga and Elin Emanuelsson tie it up at ninth with 154 totals.
Defending stroke play champion Liliana Alvarez has fallen to a tie for 14th after a tough second round 81.
