TCU Opens Play at Big 12 Championship

AUSTIN, Texas -- The TCU women's golf team is in ninth place after Friday's opening round of the Big 12 Championship in Austin.

Maria Maymon shot par on 13 holes and birdied hole No. 5 en route to a team-best 76 and a tie for 23rd individually.

April McCoy and Sanna Nuutinen contributed a 77 and 78, respectively, for the Horned Frogs. Kortnie Maxoutopoulis added a 79.

With a 3-over 291, No. 7 Oklahoma holds a 2-stroke lead over Kansas State. TCU is at 310.

Chirapat Jao-Javanil of Oklahoma and Yupaporn Kawinpakorn of Kansas are tied for the individual lead with 69s.
