May 10, 2017
LUBBOCK, Texas -- TCU senior Kelly McGovern, in the final 18 holes of her collegiate career, carded a 1-under-par 71 as the Horned Frogs concluded play Wednesday with their best round at the NCAA Regional.
TCU's 3-over 291 was a 12-stroke improvement over the second round and 17 shots better than its opening day. The Horned Frogs, making their 21st postseason appearance in the last 22 years, finished 13th.
McGovern, headed to the University of Pennsylvania Law School in the fall, recorded a birdie on her final hole. She finished the day with two birdies, both on the back nine, while shooting par on 15 holes. It was her fourth 71 in her last 14 rounds.
Martin was the Horned Frogs' top individual finisher, tying for 38th. The junior from Odessa, Fla., and All-Big 12 selection concluded the season with a TCU record 72.9 stroke average. Her 13 rounds of par or better this year were one shy of another TCU mark. She had a team-best 81 birdies on the year.
Breitenwischer's 73 marked a career-low round.
Annika Clark had a pair of birdies in recording her second-straight 74 for the Horned Frogs.
TCU's Brooke McDougald added a birdie and was even par over her opening 11 holes.
