Frogs In 10th After First Day of Dick McGuire

Sept. 14, 2004

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - After the first day of the season-opening Dick McGuire tournament, hosted by University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, the TCU Horned Frog squad, led by freshman Elisa Gomez, rests at 10th. Gomez finished at even par and a tie for 12th.

Gomez birdied on two of the first eight holes but bogied two of her final ten. She began on the back nine and so her ninth hole was the 18th, where she bogied. She again bogied on the second hole. However, her bits of genius on the 11th and 16th holes kept her at an even par (73) for a tie for 12th. The leader, Kelly Froelich of Georgia (also the team leader), shot a five-under par 68.

Senior D'Rae Ward shot a one-over 73 to tie for 19th. Sophomore Camille Blackerby tied for 45th shot a three-over 76 while fellow second-year Elin Emanuelsson tied for 51 with a four-over 77. Freshman Carrie Morris rounded out the Frogs tied for 91st.
