SUNRIVER, Ore. - TCU preseason All-American Brooke Tull started out the 2003-04 season in style, claiming individual medalist honors at the Northwest Invite in Sunriver, Ore. Tull edged her closest competitor, San Francisco's Kristi Larsen, by one stroke, while the second-place Horned Frogs finished 12 shots behind tournament champion and 20th-ranked UNLV. The 25th-rated Frogs were unable to gain on the Rebels on a cold and rainy final day, as the tournament's top two teams registered identical scores of 313.

"We're a little disappointed that we didn't win as a team because this was a tournament that we knew was winnable," TCU head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "What really hurt us was our first round because we got down 12 stokes and we stayed that way throughout the whole tournament. There were tough conditions today, but we still had a chance going in and the team knew that. The scores were higher today, but we just couldn't make a move."

Tull, a senior from Georgetown, Texas, posted a final-round score of 75 to finish with a three-round total of 219 (+3). It is the third collegiate tournament championship for Tull and her first since the Furman Lady Paladin last fall. Since April of 2002, the Horned Frogs have six individual tournament titles to their credit, as Tull and teammate D'Rae Ward have posted three victories apiece. Since 1981, TCU has garnered 28 individual crowns.

Traci Robison of Arlington, Texas, easily recorded the best finish of her career, placing in a tie for 12th. With a score of 230 (+14), the sophomore earned her first top-20 finish in 12 career tournaments. Robison's top placement as a freshman was a tie for 31st at the Conference USA Championships in April. Robison jumped four spots on the final day after posting a 76, her best score of the event.

"We're really proud of Brooke," Ravaioli-Larkin said. "She really played awesome all week. What a perfect way for her to start her senior year. Traci was just was really steady all week. She really worked hard this summer and did everything we asked her to do. It's great to see her efforts pay off."

Ward added another top-20 finish to her career stats by grabbing a share of 16th place with a 54-hole sum of 232. Ward, a native of Weatherford, Texas, posted a seven-over 79 on Tuesday. She now has finished among the top 20 in four of her last six and five of her last eight tournaments dating back to last season.

In her first career start, true freshman Stacey Bieber placed in a tie for 45th. The Winnipeg, Canada product carded an 83 on the final day to finish with a three-round 241. Another true freshman, Catherine Matranga of Fort Worth, posted an 86 in the last round to close the tournament in 59th place at 248.

The Horned Frogs are next in action at the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., from Sept. 25-27.
