Women's golf in 8th place after first round of Dick McGuire

Albuquerque, New Mexico - The TCU women's golf team is in eighth place after shooting a 14-over par score of 306 in Thursday's opening round of the Dick McGuire Invitational. Junior Brooke Tull shot an even-par score of 73, placing her in a five-way tie for seventh. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the University of New Mexico's Championship Golf Course.

The University of New Mexico women's golf team shot a first round 297 and has a one-shot lead over New Mexico State (298). Rounding out the top-five are Washington (300), Oklahoma (301), Tulsa (303) and Texas (303). In seventh place, two shots ahead of the Frogs is Pepperdine (304).

Tull is five shots behind tournament leader New Mexico State's Rachel Bailey, who fired a five-under par 68. Senior Shannon Barr is tied for 17th after shooting a 75, while sophomore D'Rae Ward opened with a 76, placing her in a tie for 24th. Freshman Traci Robison is tied for 75th after she shot an 82, while Stephanie Godare is in 86th place with a first round total of 84.

Second round action begins at 8:30 a.m. (mountain time) on Friday morning.
