FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women’s golf team opens its spring season Sunday when it begins play at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R.

The Event
The 54-hole Lady Puerto Rico Classic will be held at the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort and Rio Mar Country Club. The par 71, 5,189-yard River Course was designed by PGA legend Greg Norman. The tournament began in 2003, and TCU will be playing in it for the 13th time in the last 14 years. Only host Purdue and Kent State have played in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic more than the Horned Frogs. TCU's best performance in the event was a tie for third in 2008. TCU fourth last year with Emmy Martin and Annika Clark tying for ninth and 16th, respectively.

The Field
Joining the Horned Frogs in the field are No. 3 Arkansas, No. 14 Colorado, No. 18 Kent State, No. 19 Purdue and Augusta, East Carolina, Iowa State, Maryland, NC State and Nebraska.

“We’re super excited to be back in Puerto Rico,” TCU head women’s golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. “It should be a great event, and we hear the course is better than ever. The girls worked hard in our offseason, and it’s really starting to show. We’ve been focusing on getting to the next level mentally and physically, showing great strides over these last several weeks. We’re really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.”

Meet The Horned Frogs
The Lady Puerto Rico Classic will feature six-player lineups with four scores counting. TCU’s lineup will be Annika Clark, Emmy Martin, Grace Do, Brooke McDougald, Greta Bruner and Yeji Shin.

•Clark’s 72.3 stroke average is on pace to eclipse the TCU record of 72.9 set by Martin last season. Clark recorded par or better in six of her 12 fall rounds. The junior from Highlands, Texas, had three finishes in the top 17 this fall. She posted a career best 3-under-par 210 at the season-opening Jim West Challenge.

•Martin is at No. 25 in the initial Arnold Palmer Cup rankings for the 2018 spring season. She has a team-best 71.4 stroke average that is on pace to break her school record 72.9 mark from last season, when she earned All-Big 12 recognition. A senior from Odessa, Fla., Martin posted three top-20 finishes, including a pair in the top seven, in TCU's four fall tournaments. She shot par or better in eight of her 12 rounds.

•Do, the lone freshman in the lineup, has played in all four tournaments and has a 74.7 stroke average. Her career-low 70 came in the final round of the fall season at the Battle at the Beach.

•McDougald is playing in her 11th consecutive tournament and has a 75.8 mark.

•Bruner is third on TCU with a 74.0 stroke average. She played in the final two fall tournaments and shot par in two of her six rounds.

•Shin is her first TCU tournament as a part of the lineup. She competed as an individual at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio.

Remember When
At the 2007 Lady Puerto Rico Classic, TCU's Valentine Derry, playing in her first collegiate tournament, earned medalist honors. She shot a 5-under 67 in the first round. It remains the sixth- and eighth-best score all-time for first rounds and all rounds, respectively, at the event.
