Tull Wins First Professional Tournament

MESA, Ariz. - TCU's most recent women's golf star, Brooke Tull, has made her first step into professional competition a successful one. The Georgetown, Texas, native finished first in the opening stop of the West Coast Ladies Golf Tour. The mini-tour serves as a primer for Tull as she gears up for her first season on the LPGA Tour.

With a three-under par score of 69-73-68, Tull launched her professional career with a bang, nabbing the top honors and a $17,000 prize. A total professional prize purse of $100,000, the three-day Valentine Classic at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., wrapped up Thur., Feb. 17. Tull competed among 117 players enrolled on the tour.

"I played pretty solid all three days," Tull commented. "It definitely was fun winning money."

The West Coast Ladies Golf Tour ranks fourth on the professional women's golf tours world ranking with a $2.3 million dollar total tour purse. It ranks only behind the LPGA in the United States and ranks third in international women's golf tours world ranking.

The West Coast's Tour's first nine-week tournament series continues next week, Feb. 21-24 at the Duke at Rancho El Dorado (Maricopa, Ariz.) for the Castle Classic and Feb. 28-March 3 at Legacy Golf Club (Phoenix, Ariz.) for the Saddle Club Classic. After a week off, Tull returns for the second leg of series one March 14-17 at Estrella Mountain Ranch (Goodyear, Ariz.) for the Arizona Players Classic. March 21-24's course is still to be announced, while March 28-31 is set for Legacy Golf Club for the Legacy Classic. All events have a purse of $100,000, with $17,000 alotted to the medalist.

The tour continues into May and Tull will vary her competition between it and the LPGA. She begins competition on the LPGA in April.
