Horned Frogs Hit The Big Easy

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The No. 27 TCU women's golf team begins play Friday at the Tiger/Wave Classic in New Orleans.
The 54-hole tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,132-yard English Turn Golf & Country Club. Live scoring is available at www.Golfstat.com. TCU's opening-round tee times begin at 8 a.m.
The 23-team field features nine top-20 programs, including No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 Purdue, No. 7 Alabama and No. 10 Wake Forest.
TCU won the tournament the first two years (1982-83) it was held. The Horned Frogs were eighth last spring when it was the LSU Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, La. Prisela Campbell led TCU with an even-par 216, tying for 14th individually.
When last in action (Feb. 22-23), the Horned Frogs were second at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla. TCU placed three golfers in the top 10. Raastad carded a 1-over 217 to tie for fourth, while Derrey and Loh were sixth and ninth, respectively.
Derrey, who shot an opening-round 68 at the Central District Invitational, ranks fifth in the Mountain West Conference with her team-best 74.8 stroke average. She is 18th in the nation with an 88.9 percentage on fairways hit.
Derrey and Beeler are the lone Horned Frogs to play in all seven tournaments this season.
Raastad has posted a top-five finish in three of her six events. The Asker, Norway, native is second on TCU and ninth in the MWC with a 75.1 stroke average.
Loh, from Singapore, has a pair of top-10 results this season. She was fourth at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown before her ninth-place effort at the Central District Invitational.
Dating back to the fall, the Horned Frogs have posted six consecutive top-10 finishes.
