TCU Women's Golf in Rare Local Tourney

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's golf team will compete in its first local tournament in 10 years when it begins play Friday at the SMU Dallas Athletic Club Invitational.
The Horned Frogs are playing in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for the first time since hosting the 2004 Conference USA Championships at Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth. The SMU Dallas Athletic Club Invitational marks TCU's final tune-up before the Big 12 Championships April 25-27 in Austin.
In addition to TCU and the host Mustangs, the 16-team SMU Dallas Athletic Club Invitational includes Baylor, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Kent State, LSU, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Texas Tech, UTSA and Wake Forest.
The Horned Frogs' Friday tee times begin at 9:30 a.m. on the par 72, 6,264-yard Dallas Athletic Club course. Live scoring is available at www.Golfstat.com.
Nuutinen, the lone Horned Frog to play in all eight tournaments this season, has a team-best 73.5 stroke average. The Helsinki, Finland, native has been TCU's top finisher in five events. She is ranked 84th nationally by Golfweek.
Also the lone senior for the Horned Frogs, Nuutinen has two eagles this season and three in her career. Her six sub-70 rounds are tied for second in TCU history.
In TCU's last tournament, the LSU Tiger Golf Classic, Nuutinen tied for eighth to post her second top-10 finish of the season and 10th of her career.
Maxoutopoulis is second on TCU with a 75.6 stroke average. In her last event, she tied for 16th at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawai'i.
McCoy is third on TCU with a 77.4 average with Maymon tied for fourth at 77.5.
TCU has three top-10 team finishes on the season.
