TCU Eyes Big 12 Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's golf team begins play Friday at the Big 12 Championship in Austin, Texas.
The Horned Frogs will be in their second appearance at the Big 12 Championship. TCU tied for sixth at last year's event in Rhodes, Iowa.
TCU, looking to make a 19th-consecutive NCAA postseason appearance, has won five conference championships in the 20-year tenure of head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin.
Covering four different leagues (WAC, Conference USA, Mountain West, Big 12), TCU has finished first or second in 13 of its last 16 conference tournaments.
This year's Big 12 Championship will be held at the par 72, 6,143-yard University of Texas Golf Club. The Horned Frogs will be playing their second tournament of the season on the course. TCU tied for 11th at October's Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational.
TCU's opening-round tee times begin at 9:40 a.m. The Horned Frogs will be paired with Texas Tech and Kanas State. Live scoring is available at www.Golfstat.com.
Nuutinen, ranked 75th nationally by Golfweek, is the only senior for the Horned Frogs and enjoying a career-best season with a 73.6 stroke average.
A native of Helsinki, Finland, Nuutinen has six top-20 finishes this season, including a pair of top-10 results. She is the lone member of the Horned Frogs to play in all nine tournaments.
Nuutinen is also a past conference champion, having won the 2012 Mountain West title on a fourth playoff hole.
Maxoutopoulis is second on TCU with a 75.9 stroke average. The junior from Pleasanton, Calif., has played in eight tournaments with two top-20 efforts.
McCoy and Maymon both have 77.7 stroke averages with Uhles at 78.9.
TCU has four top-10 finishes in nine tournaments this season.
