June 4, 2013
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Former TCU women's golf standout Catherine Matranga has qualified for the 2013 U.S. Women's Open June 27-30 in Southampton, N.Y.
Matranga will be joined in the field by TCU graduate and LPGA veteran Angela Stanford, a four-time All-American (1997-00) during her days as a Horned Frog.
A native of Fort Worth, Matranga was a two-time all-conference selection and an All-American as a senior in 2007 when she led TCU to the Mountain West championship.
Matranga's 132 career rounds at TCU rank third in program history, while her 76.1 stroke average is eighth. She's tied for fourth with four career sub-70 rounds. Matranga captured medalist honors at the 2006 Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
