McGovern Receives Postgraduate Scholarship
June 6, 2017
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Graduated TCU women's golf standout Kelly McGovern has been selected to receive a 2016-17 Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship from the Big 12 Conference.
The scholarship is named in honor of the late Dr. Prentice Gautt, a former Big 12 staff member and student services' pioneer who passed away in March 2005.
McGovern, who is headed to the University of Pennsylvania Law School this fall, posted a 4.0 grade-point average while majoring in finance at TCU.
McGovern closed her TCU career with a 74.6 stroke average that ranks first in program history for those to play at least three years in the program. She posted two of the top-11 season scoring marks. In her final round, she carded a 1-under-par 71, including a birdie on her last hole, at the NCAA Regional in Lubbock.
A native of The Woodlands, Texas, McGovern totaled 12 career top-20 finishes, including four in the top 10. She had five career sub-70 rounds with four eagles and a hole in one. She played in all but one tournament in her three-year TCU career and was a three-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and a three-time member of the WGCA All-America Scholar Team. She also selected to the first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Women's At-Large Team.
