FORT WORTH - TCU baseball player Jason Coats and golfer Melissa Loh are the Scholar-Athletes of the Month for May, the TCU Athletics Department announced Tuesday.
Coats, a junior, hit .428 during the month, while driving in 18 runs and blasting two home runs. The Plano, Texas, native added five more extra base hits in the month, including two doubles and one triple.
For the season, Coats started all 62 games and carried a batting average of .325. He was tied for the team lead in home runs with eight and led the Horned Frogs in runs batted in with 56.
Loh finished in a tie for 31st at the NCAA East Regional by firing rounds of 75, 75 and 72 for a 222 total. She helped the Frogs finish in 10th place overall and just miss a playoff for the eighth and final spot in the NCAA Women's Golf Championship.
Also a Phi Beta Kappa selection and an Academic All-District honoree, Loh recently earned her degree from TCU.
