2 Frogs in Top 5 at WTGA Qualifier

BRYAN, Texas -- TCU's Annika Clark was the medalist, while Brooke McDougald tied for fifth in the qualifying round of the 96th WTGA State Amateur Championship.

Clark carded a 3-under 69, keyed by birdies on three of her final six holes, to claim the 3-stroke victory. She totaled five birdies on the day.

A junior from Highlands, Texas, Clark will have the No. 1 seed when the 32-player championship flight for match play begins Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. She was the medalist at the 2015 event in Waco.

McDougald posted a 1-over 73. The junior from The Woodlands, Texas, had an eagle on the par 5, 403-yard fifth hole. She also had a birdie on the 10th hole.
