Nov. 21, 2012
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's golf program has announced the signing of Alex Sborov to a National Letter of Intent.
A native of Pleasanton, Calif., Sborov was the 2011-12 Northern California Junior Tour Player of the Year. She won the Future Collegians World Tour event at Sandpiper Golf Club and the NCPGA Junior Event at Poppy Ridge.
Sborov qualified for the 2010 and 2012 US Girls' Junior Championships. She's had three top-10 finishes in AJGA events and a top-10 result at the 2012 California State High School Girls Golf Championship. She is a four-year all-league selection.
"I am so excited about the signing of Alex Sborov," TCU women's golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "With her talent, work ethic and excellence on and off the golf course, Alex brings great energy and passion for the game and TCU. We are so lucky to have her sign with us and be part of our family and tradition at TCU."
A four-year varsity letterwinner and a team captain this year, Sborov led her Foothill High School team to its first Northern California title and a No. 5 ranking in the state. For the first time, Foothill qualified to play in the California State Girls High School Golf Championships. She carded six consecutive below-par rounds this fall with four of them under 70.
Sborov is a two-time Northern California East Bay Athlete of the Week selection and a Foothill High School Athlete of the Month in November 2011.
An honors student, Sborov is a Student Board Member on the Board of Trustees for the Pleasanton Unified School District. She has also been a leader in student government since her sophomore year.
