TCU Great Stanford Receives Prestigious Award
Nov. 22, 2012
NAPLES, Fla. -- Former TCU women's golf great and current LPGA standout Angela Stanford has received the 2012 Kia Community Assist, recognizing a player who makes exceptional contributions to charity organizations or community programs.
Stanford was honored for her work with the Angela Stanford Foundation.
Since 2009, the Angela Stanford Foundation has supported Texas children and young adults by providing college scholarships for students whose families have been affected by cancer.
As part of the Foundation, Stanford hosts an annual Let Your Light Shine night golf tournament. In 2011, the event grossed $118,110 in scholarship funding as well as donations to the Lena Pope Home, which helps children in need in Greater Fort Worth and the First Tee of Fort Worth.
Stanford, the only four-time All-American in TCU women's golf history, has also been very loyal to her alma mater. She has served on the Frog Club Board of Directors and been a consistent supporter of the Horned Frog Classic. She also donated a van for TCU women's golf to use for team travel.
