Dec. 6, 2004
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Former TCU golfer Brooke Tull (2004) earned non-exempt status to the 2005 LPGA Tour after finishing 14th on the list. Tull qualified after posting a five-round total of 365 (+5) at the Legends/Champions Courses in Daytona Beach, Fla., for the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. The Georgetown native maintained a steady attack with daily scores of 73-74-72-73-73. The top 30 players earned exempt status while the following 35 earned conditional status.
The top 30 players and ties from the two sectional qualifiers in Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Venice, Fla., advanced to the final stage in Daytona Beach. The Futures Tour received 10 exemptions into the Final Qualifying Tournament based on money list. The LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament was a 90-hole, five-day event. The first 72 holes were played on both courses, while players play the Legends course during the final round. The cut reduced the field to the low 70 players and ties after 72 holes.
Tull reached the Final Qualifying Tournament by finishing tied for ninth in the Venice, Fla. Sectional Tournament (69-74-78-75=296, +8) at Plantation Golf and Country Club. An all-American golfer for the Frogs, Tull did not make the cut at the first sectionals in September at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. (78-74=152).
The Tour begins in March.
