FORT WORTH, Texas -- A free kick late in the match for North Texas turned into the only tally of the match as the Mean Green halted TCU's winning streak with a 1-0 win.

The Rundown
TCU dominated the possession in the first half, but couldn't find the back of the net. The Horned Frogs pumped eight shots, four of which were on goal, at the net. Mean Green goalkeeper Jackie Kerestine was equal to the task as she stopped all four that came her way.
The Frogs' best chance of the half came on a solid cross from Ryan Williams right to the head of Michelle Prokof, but her shot was corralled by Kerestine.
TCU dodged a bullet in the middle of the half as North Texas was awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. Karla Pineda took the shot and Shannon Coffer punched it over the back of the goal for her first save of the match.
The second half played out much more evenly, but it was North Texas that found the back of the goal. TCU was whistled for a hand ball deep in the defensive zone in the 85th minute. Taking the free kick to the left of the goal was Pineda. Her shot bent in under the cross bar on the far side for the eventual game-winning goal.

Stat of the Game
317:19 -- The length of the shutout streak put up by Shannon Coffer before the goal scored by North Texas.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
"I think we played well enough to win, but at the end of the day you have to put the ball in the back of the net. I just told the group that it's a hard lesson to learn. You dominate the majority of the game, you create some chances, but not enough, but we didn't put them away. You let the other team linger around and sometimes this happens. That's soccer. It's a hard lesson to learn."

"We're a good team. We've proven that and we are going to continue getting better. I felt really good about the game coming into it. I felt like a goal was going to come because we've proven to ourselves we can do that, but unfortunately we weren't able to do it today. We'll get back after it Tuesday and be ready to go on Friday against SMU."

• TCU was shut out for the third time this season.
Shannon Coffer's shutout streak came to an end at 308:55. The last goal she allowed came in the 17th minute against Maryland on Sept. 4.
Emma Heckendorn took a team-high three shots in the match.
Bobbi Clemmer, Lauren Sajewich and Ryan Williams played the entire match.
• Both teams were assessed two yellow cards in the first half.
