FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs held the majority of the possession time and took nearly three times as many shots as the East Carolina Pirates, but Friday's conference opening soccer match ended in a 1-1 tie. It was the third double-overtime contest of the season for the Horned Frogs (1-4-3, 0-0-1).

The Pirates (3-2-2, 0-0-1) attempted just three shots in the game's opening 45 minutes, but made one count. In the 34th minute, ECU's Meghan McCallion started a counter attack and slotted a ball to Krystel Pabey, who found enough space on the right side to fire a shot. Pabey struck the ball well to the near post and it snuck past TCU goalkeeper Ruth DeJong to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead heading into intermission.

TCU scored the equalizer in the 59th minute when senior Nicole Carman crossed a ball from the right flank into the penalty area. Sophomore Laura Greenberg played the ball, which was at her feet, and took a shot from eight yards away that was stopped by East Carolina goalkeeper Lauren Church. But Greenberg regrouped by taking the rebound and blasting the ball past Church and into the back of the net. It was Greenberg's second goal of the year and increased Carman's team-leading point total to 12.

The teams combined to take just four shots in the 20 minutes of overtime, and the game ended in a deadlock. DeJong played all 110 minutes in the net for TCU, making four saves. Church, East Carolina's goalkeeper, was forced to make eight stops on the afternoon. TCU outshot East Carolina by a 20-7 margin.

"I think we played well enough to win," TCU head coach David Rubinson said. "We had our chances. We need to continue to work hard to get behind the defense and find a way to score. Defensively we were pretty organized."

TCU's next match is at home on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 p.m. when the Frogs play Charlotte (5-0-0, 0-0-0).
