FORT WORTH, Texas --
A four-goal outburst in the first half helped TCU cruise to a 5-0 win over Iowa State in its Big 12 opener Friday night.
TCU jump started the scoring in the 12th minute and struck for a quartet of first half goals and never looked back. Emma Heckendorn got the scoring barrage started on a strong cross from Makenzie Koch. The feed was on target and Heckendorn tapped in her third goal of the season.
Just over two minutes later, hard work in the penalty area from Heckendorn resulted in a Cyclone foul. Koch took the awarded penalty kick and drilled her first goal of the season into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
TCU struck again in the 29th minute on a goal from Brittany Little. Again it was a cross that set up an easy tap-in for the goal scorer. Little was the benefactor of hard work from Jill Finnerty as she crossed the ball to the far-side of the goal where Little was waiting.
Twelve minutes later, hard work by the Frogs once again resulted in a penalty kick as Faith Carter was hauled down. Bobbi Clemmer didn't miss and the Frogs had a comfortable 4-0 lead.
In the second half, the Frogs didn't let up as they limited the Cyclones to just three shots. Courtney Hofer came on in relief of Shannon Coffer to start the half and had to make just two saves to preserve the shutout. Audrey Brook tacked on a goal in the 86th minute on a feed from Little to account for the final score.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
"It's good to be 1-0. You have to take it all in perspective. It's a great start for us. In looking at the stat sheet, we have five different people scoring goals, that's really good. I'm very proud of the group and the way they started off conference play."
"We challenged the kids at the half to stay in it and try to get another goal in the first 10-15 minutes. We didn't do that, but we came close a few times. I thought we took control of the game and carried things through."
"We are becoming more and more confident on the offensive side of the ball. The passing plays and the combination plays that we have are really good. We work on it all the time and it's nice to see it play out in games."
