FORT WORTH, Texas (September 30, 2001) -- The TCU women's soccer team picked up its first home victory of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating Conference USA foe DePaul 2-0 in the schools' first-ever meeting. The Horned Frogs' (4-5-1, 2-2-0 C-USA) shutout of DePaul (5-4-1, 0-3-1 C-USA) was their first of the season. TCU senior Adrianne Labovitz and sophomore Shannon Wagner each played one half of the game at goal for a combined shutout.

The Frogs' first goal came just before the 25th minute of play on a header by senior forward Jenn Coulson. Senior midfielder Tiffany Goetz set up Coulson from the right side with a perfectly lofted ball and watched as the Southlake, Texas-native headed the ball from 11 yards out in the left corner of the goal past DePaul's Lindsey Deason. Sophomore midfielder Jenny Swanson also received an assist on the play for her initial pass to Goetz.

Coulson's goal proved to be all the Frogs needed, but junior forward Nicole Carman added an insurance goal in the 86th minute. The goal came after Goetz was awarded an indirect free kick, which she lofted to the top of the penalty box to Swanson who one-touched the ball to Carman. The Arlington, Texas-native then dribbled the ball outside the penalty box and blasted an 18-yard shot from the left side into the back of the net for her second score of the season.

After the match, TCU head coach Dave Rubinson said, "We played an excellent second half today and we got better as the game went on. We still have to get better though if we're going to compete in this league and part of that involves getting away from our sluggish starts. We gave up too many shots early on."

After allowing the Blue Demons three shots on goal in the first eight minutes of play, the Horned Frog defense, lead by junior Brenda DeRose, clamped down and gave up only five shots the rest of the match. The eight shots by DePaul was a season low for a Horned Frog opponent.

The Horned Frogs' next opponent will be the Centenary Ladies on Friday, October 5, at 3:00 p.m. The match will be played at Centenary.
