Palo Alto, Calif. - An early goal in the first half was all Santa Clara needed, handing TCU its second straight loss at the Stanford/Nike Invite on Sunday afternoon. For the second straight game, the offense struggled to get things going as they were held without a shot on goal and were outshot 11-3 overall.

In a very defensive first half, the Broncos Bonnie Bowman picked up her first collegiate goal in the 17th minute when she tracked down a Micaela Esquivel pass and curved it into the upper right hand corner of the goal, giving Santa Clara the 1-0 advantage. The Frogs managed two shots to Santa Clara's one in the first half, but couldn't connect for the equalizer.

The Broncos came out strong in the second half, trying to increase the one-goal lead, but goalkeeper Katie Buchanan (Plano, Texas) was equal to the task as she stopped all five shots that came her way. In all, Santa Clara registered 10 shots in the second half, led by Tracy Hess, who took three headers that Buchanan knocked out of the way.

Jessi Moore (Grapevine, Texas) and Laura Greenberg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) picked up the only three shots for the Frogs, with Moore taking two of them.

With the loss, TCU falls to 5-6-1 overall. The Frogs return to Conference USA action on Friday in their only match of the week when they head to Houston. The Frogs will square off with the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. at John O'Quinn Field on the Houston campus. TCU is 3-1 in C-USA action, while the Cougars are winless in the conference at 0-4.
